On October 13th, 2024, exciting news came from the 2024 China Formula SAE Competition. Yueying Racing Team of Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) stood out among numerous university teams with their outstanding performance and won the national first prize.
During the competition, the team members demonstrated excellent teamwork, outstanding driving skills, and strong hands-on abilities. The guiding faculty provided on-site command throughout the event, organizing strategies to analyze competitors and guiding students in overcoming various challenges. In events such as the straight-line acceleration, high-speed obstacle avoidance, and endurance race, the team excelled and achieved an excellent overall score, ranking seventh nationally, ultimately winning the first prize in the competition.
The 15th generation HFUT Yueying formula racing car, which participated in this competition, was independently designed and built by students. Based on the previous generation, improvements were made in exhaust, fuel supply, cooling, lubrication, starting, and ignition system simulation and optimization. The chassis features a rocker arm & longitudinal double spring structure with a U-shaped stabilizer bar. The body adopts a large curvature variable cross-section main wing design. The electrical and electronic systems use a modular wiring harness design, making the overall layout more compact. This design not only achieves lightweighting but also enhances the car’s power, fuel efficiency, and handling stability.
The university’s Formula Student Racing Innovation Team is composed of undergraduate and graduate students from various schools, with the School of Automotive and Transportation Engineering responsible for organizing and managing the team. The team’s outstanding performance in the Formula Student Combustion China fully demonstrates our university's distinctive approach to talent cultivation, characterized by a solid engineering foundation, practical work ethic, and strong entrepreneurial ability. This achievement further advances our university’s innovation and entrepreneurship education to new heights.
